"The human family stands today upon the threshold of a new experience, that of Soul consciousness. Every man, woman, and child incarnate upon the planet is being brought closer to this happening by the force of evolution itself. Just as man is differentiated from the animal, in that he is a self-conscious human being, so shall he make yet another advance in awareness to become a Soul-conscious son of God. No longer must he walk in the shadow of spiritual ignorance, for the Light of his Soul is moving upon his horizon." The Nature of The Soul, pg. 3
The Nature of The Soul (or N.S.) is designed to facilitate step-by-step unfoldment from individuality to group awareness and conscious service to the One Life. It is not an intellectual treatise, but a course in Self-initiated spiritual growth and development.
The course is presented in three levels or overlapping layers:
- Meditation. Through an ascending series of meditation exercises, the foundation for the development of the soul-mind-brain alignment is laid and the tools for service on subjective levels introduced.
- The Seven Rays are explored and through the meditation work contacted and utilized as a method of rebuilding the persona and serving the One Life.
- Creativity from the level of the Soul is explored with emphasis on becoming co-workers in the establishment of the Plan on earth through individual effort and group participation.
"Consciousness, that being which is capable of awareness in any stage, we call Soul, and define it as animal, human, or Spiritual, according to Its degree of developed awareness. The nature of consciousness, whether it be that of an animal, man, or a Spiritual Soul incarnate, is essentially divine, since its only parent is God.
This concept is essential; inherent divinity must be grasped, not only as an abstraction, but as a fact in nature, by every student who would become initiate in the Wisdom. Thus, right and wrong, good and evil, any appearance of the pairs of opposites must be understood and resolved into harmony within the mind of the serious student. This is wisdom, and its practical application in the world of affairs is the self-appointed task of every disciple of The Christ.
We attain to such wisdom via a study of, and meditation upon, ''The Nature of the Soul'' as It manifests Itself in form. Thus, we turn our attention again to the basic triangle of manifestation in order to arrive at the essential impulses, characteristics and attributes of the Soul." N.S., pg. 31
